Overview

Set within the wild beauty of Greater Kruger National Park, Sashwa River of Stars offers a rare meeting point between refined comfort and untamed nature.

Tucked along the banks of the Olifants River, this nature led sanctuary invites a slower, more attentive way of being. Wildlife moves freely through the surrounding reserve and the rhythm of the bush becomes a quiet guide for each day. There is a sense here that the environment itself is part of the experience, holding both facilitator and guest in something far greater than the individual.

Designed for wellness retreats, not only safari, the game lodge accommodates up to 16 guests across twelve thoughtfully appointed suites, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and focus. Spaces flow effortlessly between indoors and open air, from river facing decks and contemplative corners to a fully equipped studio that offers a calm, climate-controlled setting for yoga, meditation and workshops. With mats, bolsters, blocks and eye pillows provided, facilitators are supported in creating experiences that feel both grounded and seamless.

Days at Sashwa unfold in a natural rhythm. Morning practices may take place as the light rises over the river, followed by time in the wilderness through guided safari drives or gentle walks that awaken the senses. Afternoons invite rest, reflection or creative exploration, while evenings gather around shared meals or under open skies. Nourishment is considered part of the experience, with plant-based meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients, prepared by an in-house chef.

The setting lends itself to a wide range of offerings, from yoga and breathwork to movement, sound journeys, creative workshops and immersive retreat experiences. The scale remains intentionally small, allowing for depth, connection and a sense of privacy, particularly with the option for exclusive use for groups.

Beyond the experience itself, Sashwa carries a deeper commitment to the land and community that holds it. The lodge operates with a strong focus on sustainability, from solar powered infrastructure to eco conscious design and permaculture practices. Each stay also contributes to Koru Camp, a conservation and education initiative supporting local youth to become future stewards of the natural world.

Sashwa River of Stars is not simply a venue. It is a place where nature, intention and thoughtful design come together to support meaningful experiences. A space where facilitators can guide with presence, and where guests are gently returned to a deeper connection with themselves, each other and the living landscape around them.
