SUMMARY:The Spirit of Clay
DESCRIPTION:Held within the peaceful surrounds of Cape Town Centre for Unity\, this intimate experience invites a return to the quiet intelligence of the hands. \nGuided by ceramicist and facilitator Riana Alet\, the afternoon unfolds gently\, offering space to reconnect with an innate sense of creativity through the grounding medium of clay. Using wild terracotta sourced from the Knysna forest\, participants are introduced to three foundational hand building techniques\, shaping a vessel that emerges as much from feeling as from form. \nThe experience weaves together meditation\, visualisation and moments of quiet nature immersion\, creating a rhythm that supports both expression and reflection. There is no rush here. Each movement is an invitation to slow down\, to listen\, and to create from a place that feels honest and unforced. \nAs the session softens\, the gathering continues into the temple gardens with a shared meal\, offering time to connect\, integrate and simply be in each other’s company. \nThis is a space for those drawn to creativity as a practice of presence. A gentle return to the hands\, the earth and the quiet unfolding of something within. \nThis workshop is for you if you feel drawn to: \n\nA pause from the pace of daily life\, to settle into stillness through creative expression\nWorking with clay as a grounding\, tactile practice\nLearning the foundations of hand building to continue exploring in your own time\nUnderstanding how to connect with your own innate creativity through simple\, accessible techniques\nExploring breathwork\, mindfulness and meditation as pathways into creative flow\nBeing part of a supportive and open creative community\n\nThe experience includes: \n\nAll tools and materials\, with firing of your finished clay piece\nA guided demonstration of three hand building techniques\nMeditation\, visualisation and a contemplative nature walk\nA shared\, bring and share lunch in the gardens\n\nBeginners are warmly welcomed. Spaces are limited to keep the experience intimate.
